Breathe.

Deep Listening is a cultural and meditative practice I created to bring people into full presence with a single body of work. The album is played straight through. No skipping. No distractions. No multitasking. Just sound, breath, body, and attention. Throughout the listening, I offer short contemplative interludes—simple breath cues, reflective prompts, and reminders to stay in the body—so people can actually hear the music and notice what it stirs in them. Kenji Summers, Initiator of Free Peace

This Deep Listening with Navy Blue pushed the practice forward. The Sword & The Soaring is introspective, spiritually grounded, and emotionally vulnerable, making it a natural fit for a room built around stillness and truth-telling. The evening invited participants to sit with the weight and clarity of the project without rushing, while the guided interludes helped the room stay grounded inside the album’s emotional architecture.

The Brooklyn Combine provided a thoughtful curation of propaganda art throughout the space, grounding the night in their ongoing work across Brooklyn—from juvenile detention centers to high school classrooms. Their presence made clear that this was not just about listening to music, but about listening as a practice of repair, reflection, and community accountability.

After the album, the room moved through shared silence and breath before Navy Blue offered a reflection on what it felt like to listen to his own work in community. We then closed with a cipher of integration, where artist and listeners reflected together on what was heard, felt, and carried forward.

This Deep Listening was a direct collaboration between Free Peace, the Brooklyn Combine, and Freedom Sounds, hosted by three times LOUDER—modeling a way of sharing music rooted in taste, depth, honesty, and care. A limited-edition long-sleeve tee was made available to support more zero-cost public experiences. Beverages were provided by Kolkata Chai.
